BACKGROUND ON THE ARTIST
Joe Robinson XL works across a diverse range of mediums and has taken art and creative processes into an unlikely range of environments. Over thirty years he has built up a reputation for high standards in a diverse range of practice. Always delivering work with passion and with a friendly hands-on approach.
He studied three years art and design at Sheffield before gaining a degree in Theatre Design at Nottingham. He has since worked in theatre, film, public arts, sculpture, industrial and graphic design, crafts, model-making, printmaking, illustration, writing and performance and the most unusual creative medium; fire sculpture.
A passionate believer in transferring creative skills and thinking to alternate fields he works in schools as well as delivering work in a range of public projects which engage people in social change. As such he was a key player in setting up a twelve million pound regeneration initiative in Nottingham and he continues in this work as a freelance consultant. He is currently based in London.
